Lossless to Lossless Conversion Causes Fake Positives

First of all, I love the software and think it’s amazing. However, I have a question about something that I think may be a bug or possible issue. I have a bunch of FLAC files that have mostly been verified as authentic by the software. However, I noticed that if I use XLD on my Mac to convert these files from FLAC to ALAC, and then analyze the ALAC files, they are always reported as being fake and really 320kbps. This is despite the fact that I have used the software to verify the original source FLAC files as authentic lossless files. If I convert from a lossless format to another lossless format like FLAC to ALAC, shouldn’t it stay lossless and still be verified as such by the software? I was wondering what your thoughts were on this. Is it something that I’m doing wrong? Thanks for your time.

Thanks for your reply. I think I found the issue. It seems to be a flaw with the XLD software I was using. Good for ripping discs accurately, but BAD for lossless to lossless conversion. I just downloaded MediaHuman and tried the same thing (converted FLAC to ALAC and checked the resulting ALAC files in Fakin' The Funk). This time, the ALAC files were verified as true lossless files. I even checked the spectrum and made sure myself. The files that I converted using XLD, however, definitely ended up really being 320kbps when I checked. I'm extremely glad I discovered this before I wasted any more of my time using XLD for FLAC to ALAC conversion. To anyone reading this, BEWARE of XLD if you are wanting to use it for this purpose, as it seems to be incapable of doing it properly. Thanks again for your fast reply.
